Q: How old do I have to be to apply?

A: Generally, applicants for most federal jobs must be 18 years old, or at least 16 years old and:
• Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or
• Have completed a formal vocational training program; or
• Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or
• Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.

Q: Do I have to enlist to apply?

A: No, civilian jobs have no military requirement.

Q: Is a high school diploma/GED required?

A: No, unless (1) it is a degree positive position (which would be stated in the announcement and is typically your Engineering, Computer Science and IT positions) or (2) at least 16 years old and:
• Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or
• Have completed a formal vocational training program; or
• Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or
• Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.

Q: Do you hire international students?

A: Under Executive Order 11935, only United States citizens and nationals (residents of American Samoa and Swains Island) may compete for, and be appointed to, competitive service jobs

Q: Do I have to be registered for selective service?

A: If you are a male born after December 31, 1959, and are at least 18 years of age, civil service employment law (5 U.S.C. 3328) requires that you must be registered with the Selective Service System, unless you meet certain exemptions under Selective Service law.

Q: Do I need a college degree?

A: Some positions will require a degree from an ABET accredited university. If a position is degree positive the announcement will specify.

Q: Do you offer part-time opportunities?

A: Yes, you can filter your job search by full or part time positions.

Q: What documents are needed to apply?

A: Resume required for all positions. Degree positive positions require transcripts. Current or prior employees require SF50. Prior military DD214.

Q: How long does it take to be hired?

A: It can take up to six months. Position requirements and approvals can shorten or lengthen the hiring process i.e., drug test, physical, security clearance, etc.
