The 309th Electronics Maintenance Group (EMXG) is much more than electronics; it provides maintenance and overhaul to avionics, instrumentation, power generators, bomb lifts, deployable shelters, radomes, and more. In addition to their operations on Hill AFB, a detachment located at Kadena Air Base, Japan, provides in-theater support to the Pacific Air Forces, providing time-sensitive manufacturing and component repair and overhaul capabilities to the end-user. EMXG supports numerous military aircraft, to include the A-10, B-1, B-52, C-130, C-5, E-3, F-15, F-16, F-22, KC-135, T-38, and UH-1. Some examples of what we produce:

Radome Maintenance – EMXG’s Radome Mobile Depot Maintenance (MDM) team performs repairs around the world to protect the integrity of coverings surrounding radar systems. Tower repairs are also performed for corrosion control, replacing structural components to maintain their reliability. These repairs are routinely performed at heights of 100 feet and greater. The shelter MDM teams provide depot level maintenance on Tactical Mobile Maintenance Shelters worldwide, keeping these critical assets Fully Mission-Capable (FMC) for the Warfighter. 

Fifth Generation Fighters: EMXG has a long standing relationship built around strong partnerships with many Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM). The EMXG team, in partnership with Lockheed Martin, created the Air Force’s sole repair center for the F-22 side-stick controller, utilized continuous process improvement activities to boost production of the throttle grip, and instituted a first-of-its-kind repair process to the side-stick controller’s accessory flange. The EMXG team also partnered with Lockheed Martin and Collins Aerospace to develop repair capability on the F-35 Helmet Mounted Display (HMD). The HMD provides the heads-up and off-axis display capability functions when installed into the Joint Strike Fighter family of air vehicles
