World War II veteran tours B-25 bomber

HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah --  A World War II veteran got his wish last week. Donald Nesbit, 96, got the chance to sit in the cockpit of the B-25 bomber.

Nesbit is currently cared for by hospice. His family said the past couple years he's started talking more about this time in the war.

Seeing that interest, his family, hospice and other medical staff worked together to give Nesbit a chance to tour a B-25 twin-engine bomber June 22 ahead of the Warriors Over the Wasatch Air and Space Show at Hill.

During the war, Nesbit was a navigator on a B-24 Liberator bomber. Nesbit's plane was shot down over Romania and he and the aircrew were forced to bail out.

They were held as prisoners of war, interrogated and later released.
