  • Final Battle Damaged F-16 Returns to 148th Fighter Wing

    In May of 2018, a severe windstorm blew through the 407th Air Expeditionary Group, Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base, Kuwait while personnel from the 179th Air Expeditionary Squadron were evacuated to their quarters. 91-mile per hour straight-line winds collapsed sunshades onto seven F-16 fighter aircraft assigned to the 148th Fighter Wing, Minnesota Air National Guard. The 148th had deployed 333 personnel plus twelve F-16s in support of Operation INHERENT RESOLVE. Five of those F-16s sustained catastrophic damage.

  • Final C-27J departs 309th AMARG for the U.S. Coast Guard

    After a successful collaboration between the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group and the U.S. Coast Guard, the last of 13 regenerated C-27J Spartans returned to service October 19. When the U.S. Air Force retired the twin-engine, light cargo aircraft in 2013, the Coast Guard expressed interest in acquiring them for use in maritime patrol, search-and-rescue, and disaster assistance roles.

  • 309th AMARG delivers 23 F/A-18C Hornets ahead of schedule

    Tucson’s 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group, commonly referred to as AMARG, recently completed a project to withdraw 23 F/A-18C “Hornet” jet fighters from war-reserve storage and deliver them to the U.S. Marine Corps for return to flying service. The 309th AMARG is part of the Ogden Air Logistics Complex and Air Force Sustainment Center within Air Force Materiel Command.
  • 309th AMARG applauded for valuable AFSOC support

    U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Gregory Ferguson, the Air National Guard Assistant to the Commander, United States Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), along with an MC-130H Talon II aircraft and its crew, recently visited the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group (AMARG) to recognize and pay tribute to the group’s contribution to the AFSOC mission.
  • 309th AMARG upgrades A-10 search capability

    A-10C Thunderbolt IIs assigned to active duty fighter squadrons here are in the process of having new lightweight airborne recovery systems installed. The LARS V-12 is designed to allow A-10 pilots to communicate more effectively with individuals on the ground such as downed pilots, pararescuemen and joint terminal attack controllers.
