  • 78th anniversary of the Doolittle Raid

    April 18 marks the 78th anniversary of the Doolittle Raid, in which Lt. Col. James H. Doolittle, U.S. Army Air Forces, and Vice Adm. William F. Halsey Jr., U.S. Navy, led a joint bombing operation on the Japanese mainland aimed to inflict both material and psychological damage upon the enemy following the attacks on Pearl Harbor.
  • Hill Field and the beginning of a depot

    On Jan. 12, 1940, officials from the Ogden Chamber of Commerce, other civic groups, and the nearby Ogden Ordnance Depot gathered in a swirling snowstorm to participate in ground-breaking ceremonies at the newly developing Hill Field. The event marked the beginning of Works Progress Administration excavations for the first two buildings at the fledgling Ogden Air Depot. The project included construction of a quartermaster warehouse and commissary, and a quartermaster garage and shops.
  • Hill Air Force Base celebrates 80th anniversary

    Celebratory activities at Hill Air Force Base will take place throughout 2020 and carry the theme “80 Years of Excellence” beginning with an 80th Anniversary Celebration held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Hill Aerospace Museum.
  • Air Force takes part in Transcontinental Railroad’s 150th anniversary

    Air Force recruiters and volunteers were among the thousands who gathered May 10-11 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad at Golden Spike National Historic Park.
