The Missile Mishap Recovery Team works to recover a Minuteman III component after a simulated transit accident at Observatory Park in Ogden, Utah, May 12, 2026. Based at Hill Air Force Base, the MMRT is a highly specialized unit and the only one of its kind in the Air Force. The group is on call 24/7 to respond to any Minuteman III weapon system mishap—excluding the warhead—that falls outside of standard procedures or poses significant hazards.
