Casting new methods of production saves Air Force time, money

A closeup of the scavenge oil inlet port lettering is shown on a prototype TF33 rear gearbox housing at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, Aug. 25, 2022. The prototype, cast from an additively manufactured mold is an exact match of the original part, down to the lettering. Because the part was manufactured in the same method as the original, no lengthy airworthiness testing is required. (U.S. Air Force photo by Paul Shirk)
