Following the Air Force’s December 1971 announcement for a “satellite alert” site selection at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, the installation completed construction of a Strategic Air Command (SAC) satellite alert facility in 1972. The construction project included building a parking ramp that could hold four B-52 bombers and two KC-15 aerial refuelers, as well as a living quarters for 90 personnel. (U.S. Air Force photo)
