Lt. Col. (Ret.) Janney
Members from the Veterans of Foreign Wars from throughout Utah stood in formation April13 on the south end of the Hill Air Force Base runway to commemorate the life of Lt. Col. (Ret.) Edison Phillips Janney, a Utah native. Janney served 23 years in the military. While serving as a bombadier with the 95th Bomb Group he was captured by German forces on October 10, 1943, where he remained for nearly two years. His last wish was for his ashes to be spread across an Air Force runway. (U.S. Air Force photo by R. Nial Bradshaw)
