Seabea Hunsaker
(March 28, 2007, Logan, Utah), Willie Hunsaker, retired US Navy SEABEE and member of the VFW Post 1695 from Brigham City, Utah, mourns the loss of Lt. Colonel Chase J. Nielsen, Utah’s most famous WWII veteran and hero. Lt. Colonel Nielsen was more than a hero to the members of VFW Post 1695; he was also a long time member of their post and a beloved friend. Lt. Col Nielsen was one of the last remaining members of the famed “Doolittle Raiders”. The members of the “Doolittle Raiders” reached national acclaim in 1942 after launching the first successful aerial bombing raid on Tokyo, Japan in retaliation for the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in December of 1941.
