Several Airmen and civilians donned loaded backpacks and participated in a teambuilding activity here Aug. 19.

The GoRuck Light Challenge, led by a military veteran with a special operations background and sponsored here by the 75th Force Support Squadron, tested participants’ stamina, leadership, and fitness.

Depending on body weight, participants each carried 10-20 pounds in their backpacks and over a period of 4-5 hours and a distance of approximately 10 miles, endured a series of ruck marches, exercises, and team challenges.

During the event, participants were exhausted and dirty but most enjoyed the challenge.

“I can speak on behalf of all participants in saying we started the day as individuals and ended as a strong performing team,” said 2nd Lt. Ryan Buck, 75th Medical Support Squadron. “The leadership training was invaluable and it tested the participants mentally, physically and emotionally. I think it’s a great opportunity and would encourage anyone and everyone to do it at least once.”

At the finish, each received a coveted patch, indicating they’d overcome all obstacles.
