Hill leadership has been collaborating for several months with Utah Transit Authority executives and planners to develop an expanded mass transportation service plan for the installation.

A public hearing and open house conducted by UTA is scheduled on Feb. 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Clearfield Community Art Center, Multi-Purpose Room, 140 E. Center St., and an open house and information fair is scheduled on Feb. 20 from 7:30 a.m. to noon at the Hill AFB Base Theater.

The open forums are designed to receive public comment on additional mass transit solutions for Hill AFB personnel.

Hill AFB and UTA are currently discussing a service that would run during peak traffic periods including a proposed bus service to and from the FrontRunner Station in Clearfield to 20 stops throughout the base; however, UTA will review all the suggestions provided during the open forums before it makes a final decision on a service plan, said Kent Nomura, Chief, Operations Support Flight for the 75th Civil Engineer Squadron.

UTA will have information pamphlets on the proposed routes and Rideshare vanpool program for federal employees.

Information will also be available on the federal subsidy transit assistance program available for federal employees to receive up to $130 a month to pay for travel between their homes and place of employment.

Hill AFB employees who want to apply for the subsidy can complete the application by clicking on the "FrontRunner/Rideshare Applicaton" link located under "Quick Links" tab along the bottom right hand side of the Hill website.

After a completed application is approved, a Government (TranServe) Debit Visa Card will be issued to the user, which can be used to pay monthly travel expenses. It will take approximately 6 weeks to begin receiving funds.
