Team Hill partners with community for suicide prevention

LAYTON, Utah --  A Suicide Prevention Town Hall Meeting will be held later this month.

It will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Feb. 25 at Northridge High School located at 2430 N. Hill Field Road in Layton.

The agenda will include discussion with community leaders, the story of a survivor, tools and strategies for recognizing the warning signs, and additional information on community and school resources.

Hill Air Force Base has partnered with Layton Communities That Care for the town hall meeting. Other agencies and organizations involved include Northern Utah HOPE, the Suicide Prevention Task Force, Davis Behavioral Health, Davis County Health Department, Intermountain Health Care and Veterans Affairs and the Layton Police Department.

As an incentive, youth who need to make up a "U" in citizenship can do so by attending the meeting with their parent or guardian.

According to a Communities That Care news release, 51 people died in Davis County in 2012 because of suicide and Utah ranks No. 7 in the nation for suicides.
