HAFB families focus on resiliency at AEF Retreat Published March 14, 2014 By George Jozens 75th Air Base Wing Public Affairs HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- More than 50 military families will gather this weekend at Wolf Creek Resort for an Air Expeditionary Force (AEF) Family Resiliency Retreat, which is planned for Airmen who are getting ready to deploy or have just returned from a deployment. The retreat is intended to help families endure the challenges of military service and focuses on resiliency, reintegration, coping strategies and PTSD. This is the seventh year that Wolf Creek Foundation and Hill AFB have held the retreats. Throughout the weekend, families will participate in training sessions and enjoy outdoor activities including skiing, snow-shoeing, and sleigh rides during their downtime. On Saturday, families will meet with Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force James Cody to discuss resiliency importance and techniques. "The AEF Family Retreat is a great opportunity for couples, parents and children to prepare for, or reintegrate from, a deployment," said Chaplain (Maj.) Eric Whitmore. "The adult sessions, as well as the youth, teen and child sessions, provide resiliency and coping skills in a creative and fun environment, and the Youth Center and the Airman and Family Readiness Center give top-notch training and care for children, while relationship experts host the adult classes."
