Team Hill honors base supporter with Wingman Award

HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah --  Tage Flint, General Manager/CEO of Weber Basin Water Conservancy District, has long been a supporter of Hill AFB, and was recently chosen to receive Team Hill's prestigious Wingman Award for his unyielding support and loyalty to the base.

"Tage Flint is an excellent example of what a community Wingman exemplifies," said Col. Ron Jolly, 75th Air Base Wing and Installation commander. "Whether contributing countless volunteer hours for family outreach programs and quality of life efforts, or helping organize the annual Defender's picnic, Tage is one of the most ardent Hill Air Force Base supporters."

Flint will be honored with a medal and personalized portrait during Team Hill's Air Force Ball Sept. 20 at the Ogden Eccles Conference Center in downtown Ogden. His portrait will be displayed in the Hill Aerospace Museum alongside previous award recipients.

The honor, which has been presented annually to members of the community since 2007, recognizes those who have gone above and beyond in service to the installation.

"Tage's concern for, and service to, Hill Air Force Base goes well beyond any reasonable expectations," Jolly said. "He does this because of his sincere commitment to the Airmen, who sacrifice so much for our nation and for the critical importance that Hill Air Force Base is to Utah.

The Kaysville resident remains active in the community by serving on many boards and committees, most notably the Utah Defense Alliance, the Top of Utah Military Affairs Committee, the Air Force Sustainment Center Commander's Civic Leader Program, and the Utah Legislature's Veterans' and Military Affairs Commission.

He has also served as an honorary commander for the Ogden Air Logistics Complex and currently serves as an honorary for the base's Air Force Reserve 419th Fighter Wing.

Lt. Col. Francis S. "Gabby" Gabreski, a World War II pilot with 28 aerial kills, once said, "The wingman is absolutely indispensable. I look after the wingman. The wingman looks after me ... We work together. We fight together. The wingman knows what his responsibilities are, and knows what mine are. Wars are not won by individuals. They're won by teams."
