Hill names Energy Champion of the Year

HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah --  Hill's Energy Management Office has named Danny Davis, property manager for Boyer Hill Military Housing, as the 2015 Energy Champion of the Year.

Davis executed an extensive lighting project within his organization, Hill Military Housing.

The project not only improved lighting levels, providing better living environments for military tenants, but also utilized more efficient LED lighting technology to conserve energy and save money.

Davis was able to subsidize 80 percent of the project costs by utilizing the Rocky Mountain Power Watt-Smart Incentives Program.

Working directly with the energy office, Davis used this incentives program to the fullest extent, maximizing the amount of funds available for the Boyer Hill lighting upgrades.

Davis kick started an 11-phase project to retrofit lighting beginning in January 2015. Since then he has supervised the installation of lighting in more than 500 homes.

Once the remaining phases of the project are completed, 1,082 homes and 103 street lights will be installed with LED lighting retrofits saving the installation 885,648 kWh annually and $50,500 in avoided energy costs. This will result in a total bill credit of $373,595 from the Watt-Smart Program.

Officials said, Davis is an outstanding example of excellent energy and environmental stewardship for Hill AFB and Air Force. His persistency and enthusiasm were instrumental in achieving a fiscal 2015 energy savings of 308,212 kWh and the procurement of $96,449 bill credits from Rocky Mountain Power.
