HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The 66th Air Base Group Public Affairs office recently launched a new multi-pronged messaging campaign to better explain the acquisition mission here.
AcqFacts aims to reach a broader audience both on and off the installation through engaging and concise messaging highlighting the investment capabilities of the acquisition enterprise.
“Acquisition is complex and often uses terminology that is unfamiliar to non-acquisition audiences,” said Russ Kelly, 66th Air Base Group Public Affairs chief. “Our goal is to help stakeholders better understand the role Hanscom AFB plays in developing, acquiring, modernizing and sustaining capabilities for the Air Force.”
Hanscom AFB is home to a significant portion of the Air Force acquisition enterprise, including five portfolio acquisition executives, also known as PAEs, and program offices responsible for managing portfolios and programs that modernize critical capabilities to win today and into the future.
The acquisition mission is central to maintaining and enhancing the Department of the Air Force’s ability to project power, defend national interests, and support allies. It ensures DAF can modernize, sustain, and deliver capabilities to the warfighter when needed. Still, many find it difficult to comprehend the vital role acquisition plays in our national defense.
AcqFacts will regularly appear on official Hanscom AFB social media platforms and digital marquees, providing quick facts key stakeholders can easily absorb.
The campaign’s first two facts highlighted the scale of the contracts awarded at Hanscom AFB and ongoing acquisition transformation efforts.
Future AcqFacts will explore a range of topics, including program and portfolio responsibilities, capabilities developed at Hanscom AFB and facts that demonstrate the scope and impact of the mission.
Hanscom AFB PAEs oversee aerospace management, sensors, force protection, electronic warfare, navigation and timing, secure cyberspace, communications and cryptologic systems. Together, these efforts help provide warfighters with the information, systems and tools needed to execute missions and maintain an advantage over adversaries.
As part of a broader campaign promoting investment in acquisition, Public Affairs is seeking communications champions for investment in acquisition to help ensure tomorrow’s Airmen inherit an Air Force that can win.
Members of Team Hanscom who have suggestions for AcqFacts topics and may be interested in becoming communication champions for investment in acquisition are encouraged to contact the Public Affairs office at 66.abg.pa.workflow@us.af.mil.
