HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- After 15 years of inspiring and educating local students, Hill Air Force Base is ending its sponsorship of the DoW STARBASE program.
Since 2011, STARBASE Hill has welcomed thousands of students, offering hands‑on exposure to science, technology, engineering and math at a time when such opportunities were limited. The program played a pivotal role in igniting early STEM interest across the region, and Hill AFB is proud of the lasting influence it has had on a generation of young learners.
Today, Northern Utah benefits from a robust network of STEM programs, many of which were inspired or accelerated by STARBASE’s early success. This expansion, combined with changes in national program funding, marks a natural moment for transition. Concluding the program allows Hill AFB to realign resources to meet the growing demands of its core national security mission, confident that the community is well supported by a diverse and vibrant STEM landscape.
Hill extends its sincere gratitude to the students, educators, families, and volunteers who made STARBASE a cornerstone of local STEM education. The base remains deeply committed to community partnership and will continue supporting educational outreach that inspires the next generation of innovators, leaders and problem‑solvers.
