The creator of a popular home fitness program is scheduled to visit the base to train with Hill personnel Feb. 2-3.

Highly esteemed personal trainer and creator of P90X Tony Horton will be conducting fitness classes for Hill personnel on Friday and Saturday.

"Our men and women in uniform play a special role in protecting and serving our country," Horton said. "My goal is to help the folks at Hill Air Force Base really understand the importance of consistent exercise, healthy eating and how it relates to better performance and improves their quality of life."

Putting on fitness classes isn't all he'll be doing. Horton will also meet with physical fitness trainers and health and wellness staff at the base to discuss various topics of fitness and nutrition. Horton will also be eating lunch with the Airmen and interacting with them after workout sessions, providing personal motivation and advice on being in top physical condition.

Capt. Laura Griggs, a logistics career broadening officer here and a personal friend of Horton's, helped organize his visit.

"Tony genuinely cares about the well-being of those serving our country, and this is his way of giving back," Griggs said. "It's a great opportunity for everyone at Hill to get this type of physical training. Not only are the workouts motivating, they're effective."

All base personnel are welcome to attend an open exercise session with Horton at 3 p.m., Thursday, Feb 2. at the Warrior Fitness Center.
