HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- Effective immediately, Hill AFB has changed its Health Protection Condition level from Zero to Alpha as a precautionary safety measure in response to the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the State of Utah.
This HPCON change is consistent with existing precautionary measures, and provides critical information for base personnel to help mitigate and prevent additional COVID-19 spread.
The HPCON Alpha declaration defines base measures for a limited health threat to base personnel that has the potential to rapidly move into the installation. Measures include information for personnel on the threats and other precautionary measures, and includes reviewing plans to limit the spread of COVID-19.
The base has also implemented measures at entry gates to mitigate the spread of contaminants. When approaching the gate, members are asked to show the front and back of their ID card to the security forces member and wait to proceed into the installation.
Good hygiene practices are the best preventive measure to control the spread of viruses. For example, washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, avoiding contact with those who have been sick, contacting your doctor when you feel ill, and disinfecting frequently-touched surfaces all assist in preventing the spread of COVID-19 (as well as a myriad of other viruses).
Team Hill members who are feeling ill are encouraged to contact the 75th Medical Group Public Health at 801-777-7934 or the 75th MDG Appointment Line at 801-586-CARE (2273). In addition, the number for the State of Utah COVID-19 hotline is 888-374-8824.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Utah Department of Public Health, and Team Hill are continuing to track the ongoing COVID-19 situation.
