HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- The way people get news and information has changed drastically the past decade and has pushed the base’s public affairs team to continually look for new ways to deliver it to Hill Air Force Base.

Our team looked at the effectiveness of the Hilltop Times and whether or not we should continue its distribution. After meeting with the 75th Air Base Wing commander and the Standard-Examiner publisher that prints and distributes the paper, we decided that with some needed changes, there’s still a use for it.

The May 9 Hilltop Times will be the first edition with those changes.

The first thing you'll notice will be the overall appearance of the paper. Instead of a traditional newspaper layout, the paper will be published in tabloid format. We believe the new design will be more appealing and more convenient for readers to browse.

Appearance won't be the only change. Some of the most important modifications concern the content. We know from conversations and other feedback that people are interested in knowing what’s happening both on and off base.

We will continue to offer the same coverage of local news and feature stories. However, we will be expanding our base happenings content by adding more 75th Force Support Squadrons-sponsored events and activities.

One of the most significant changes will be the inclusion of content from the Standard-Examiner’s Go! publication.

If you’re not familiar with the Go!, it’s inserted into the Standard-Examiner once a week. It spotlights things to do in the local area the week ahead, and features movie and restaurant reviews, interviews with celebrities and artists, and much more.

We’re excited about the addition of Go! content to the Hilltop Times and believe this will inspire more readers to pick up the base paper.

In the coming weeks and months, we will continue to work with the publisher to optimize the paper’s design and content. We will also be adjusting our distribution points on base, removing some drop-off locations and adding others.

If you have recommendations, please email us at hilltop.times@us.af.mil. You can also send your story suggestions to this same address.

We hope you enjoy the redesign and look forward to hearing your feedback.
