The AF Connect mobile app has undergone several updates to enhance features and improve usability for users, including new and improved communication features such as Groups and instant notifications.

One of the biggest changes to the smart phone mobile app is an ease-of-use update. When a user opens the app, they now go directly to the Hill page if it was the last Air Force page visited. Before, users had to go to their favorites and manually select Hill, as the app hosts pages for multiple bases.

The Groups feature, one of the most popular features of the app, has also been enhanced. The feature allows users to connect and communicate with members of a group established by a designated group leader. Group members have communication capability and access to messaging threads, schedules/events, photos, and group member management.

Another key feature of the app is instant notifications. Users who have enabled this feature will receive notifications for gate closures, weather delays and other important or urgent messages affecting the installation.

The base works diligently to bring relevant news and information to Hill through a variety of platforms, and the app augments traditional communication tools – such as the official website, social media sites and the Hilltop Times – by consolidating multiple resources in a convenient single location, easing access and ensuring the base’s military, civilians and families  stay informed.

The app, which can be found in both the Apple and Google app stores, aims to improve workforce engagement and efficiency by providing an array of robust features that enhance access to the information personnel need to manage their Air Force life and career. With a CAC reader phone attachment, users can access official email accounts and visit CAC-enabled sites such as myPay and the Defense Travel System.
