Construction at the South Gate is near completion and all four inbound lanes will be open beginning Oct. 29.  Gate work, which includes installation of concrete islands and barriers, will shift to the Roy Gate.

There will be just one inbound lane of traffic opened at Roy Gate, with an additional inbound lane opened during peak hours of 5 to 10 a.m.  Those leaving the base through Roy during peak hours will be diverted through the Museum Gate.

Lane restrictions at the Roy Gate will be in place through late November. The East Gate will continue to be opened weekdays from 5 to 10 a.m. while construction is ongoing.  All other gate hours will remain the same.

“With increased volume of traffic at the gates, the concrete islands and barriers are needed for the safety of motorists, pedestrians and security forces guards at Hill,” said Branko Vitanov, base civil engineer.

Base officials ask for everyone's patience in advance of these much needed installation safety upgrades. Motorist, pedestrians and cyclists should be alert and obey all traffic laws during their commute throughout the construction area, which will help these projects be safely completed with minimum delays.
