The Air Force launched the Federal Occupational Health's Employee Assistance Program, or EAP, and Worklife4You services on Oct. 1, 2017.

These services are available to all civilian employees (appropriated and non-appropriated) and their families at no cost to the employee.

For one civilian employee, Stacy, the services could not have come at a better time. Stacy told her EAP program manager a wonderful story and suggested it be shared so others could benefit from these valuable services.

Stacy's elderly mother lived alone in another state and wished to move into an assisted living facility.

"I began my internet search, but soon realized I was clueless on what to look for in a facility, what costs were reasonable, and more importantly what my mother actually needed."

Stacy called the 24/7 access line to EAP's Worklife4You services and, "all my worries vanished."

A professional care manager listened to Stacy's concerns and needs.

The PCM arranged a meeting with her mother and conducted a free in-person senior care assessment.

Based on the assessment, the PCM gave Stacy a detailed actionable care plan and helped Stacy understand her options.

"I was able to make a single trip to visit my mother and visit the top three care facilities that the PCM said met our needs. Worklife4You did all the legwork for me."

The EAP experts also put Stacy in touch with legal and financial advisors to help her manage the paperwork. Stacy reports her mother loves the care facility they chose.

Worklife4You can also assist with locating child care, provide information on college life, and help identify contractors/services for home and auto repair.

EAP also provides a variety of support services from one-on-one counseling sessions with a licensed, credentialed master's degree professional who can address more significant challenges such as financial and legal issues.

All support is provided on a confidential basis and can be done via telephone or face-to-face with a local provider, once identified.

Access EAP and WorkLife4You at 800-222-0364. Employees receive can immediate assistance, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Information and resources can also be obtained via the internet.
