Trichloroethene or Trichloroethylene (TCE)
TCE is a solvent that can be used to degrease and clean aircraft parts. It has been used at Hill AFB for more than 50 years, although it is only used in controlled amounts today. It is the most widespread of the chemical contaminants coming from the base and can be found in some household products.

1,2-dichloroethane (DCA)
DCA is a solvent that saw some limited use at Hill AFB in the past. It is no longer used on base and has very limited use in the United States. It is found in the groundwater in very specific parts of Layton. DCA has been found in numerous homes and is often associated with certain types of items made from plastics manufactured overseas.
