Chief Master Sergeant Howard "Ray" Smith is the Senior Enlisted Leader for the Ogden Air Logistics Complex. He leads depot maintenance civilians, military, and contractor personnel to include four geographically separated units in support of depot repair, overhaul, and modification of the A-10, C-130, F-16, F-22, F-35 and T-38 aircraft, the Minuteman III Intercontinental Ballistic Missile system, and a wide range of commodities. Mission areas include landing gear, wheels and brakes,
rocket motors, air munitions and guided bombs, photonics equipment, training devices, software, electronics, avionics, instruments, hydraulics, power systems, and other aerospace-related components. Additionally, he supports Air Force Material Command as the missile maintenance MAJCOM Functional Manager.
Smith enlisted in the Air Force early 2004, after completing the Missile and Space Systems Maintenance course in June 2004 he has served in various locations such as Wyoming, Louisiana, and North Dakota. Throughout his career in ICBM maintenance, he has held several roles, his previous positions include missile maintenance team instructor, evaluator, team chief, assistant NCO in charge, NCO in charge, inspector general team manager, flight chief, and superintendent. Prior to his current position, he was the Senior Enlisted Leader for the 91st Missile Maintenance Squadron at Minot Air Force Base, N.D.
