Team Hill participated in several Wingman Day activities here Sept. 30.

The base’s community support coordinator and 75th Force Support Squadron, in conjunction with mission partners, coordinated a schedule of events which included unit resiliency training, lunch, basewide fitness events and team competitions, and an awards ceremony. The day was capped with a promotion ceremony recognizing enlisted promotees for October.

Wingman Day is a Comprehensive Airmen Fitness initiative conducted a minimum of two times per calendar year. Its purpose is to emphasize informational awareness, accountability, and team building in the areas of mental, physical, social, and spiritual fitness.

“Comprehensive Airmen Fitness is a whole-person centered approach to support a thriving and resilient Air Force community inclusive of our military and civilian Airmen and our family members,” said Julie Pinchak, Hill AFB community support coordinator. “Wingman day is one piece of the CAF puzzle that provides tools and opportunities to become a better version of yourself. It encourages us to live our Air Force Core Values.”

Team building and physical fitness were among the day’s highlights with good competition coming from volleyball and dodgeball tournaments, and a tug-of-war contest.

“The theme of this year’s Wingman Day was physical resiliency and sports ties directly into this theme,” said Eli Whitman, Hill AFB community services flight chief. “It was the first time we’ve had Team Hill participate together in a sports day and it was a great first effort.”

Pinchak noted that the week leading up to Wingman Day was hectic but that the results were worth the effort.

“Being a Wingman isn't a cliché term, it is a responsibility, a promise, a pledge, a commitment to always have your back,” she said. “At Hill Air Force Base we strive to promote a culture of respect, resilience and professionalism such that every team member feels valued.”
