HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah – In an effort to increase the number of fulltime F-35A maintainers in the 419th Fighter Wing, Master Sgt. Lissy Singleton was recently hired as part of the Air Force Reserve recruiting team here.
The 419th currently has about 150 vacant Air Reserve Technician maintenance positions and Singleton is looking for candidates who are interested in serving in these unique jobs. ARTs serve in a ‘dual status’ role – as civilians during the regular work week and are responsible for day-to-day operations. They then also serve as reservists one weekend a month and 15 days each year, supporting training and readiness operations of personnel in their unit.
ARTs receive the full civil service benefits package to include retirement, health insurance, flexible spending accounts, and more.
“One of the biggest benefits is that people can draw two retirements – one from civil service and one from the Reserve,” Singleton said. “I’m here to help interested candidates fully understand the program and the application process.”
There are currently 1,400 ART vacancies nationwide and the Air Force Reserve ART force is manned at 77 percent, according to the Air Force Reserve Command Recruiting Service.
Singleton is one of 12 recruiters in the U.S. recently assigned to recruit for the ART program and bolster these numbers. The others are located at Beale AFB, California; Barksdale AFB, Louisiana; Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona; Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Georgia; Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth, Texas; Homestead ARB, Florida; Joint Base San Antonio Lackland, Texas; Keesler AFB, Mississippi; Luke AFB, Arizona; March ARB, California; and Nellis AFB, Nevada.
