Hill Air Force Base hosted a proclamation signing event on Nov. 18 to celebrate National American Indian Heritage Month.

The event featured a proclamation signing, video presentations on recognizing Native American contributions in the Air Force, cultural explanations from various tribes, and a traditional smudging ceremony for attendees.

This annual observance is a celebration of the histories, cultures, spirituality, and contributions of American citizens whose ancestors originated from North America.

Two more events are scheduled at Hill AFB to continue the celebration of NAIHM:

  • Nov. 22: A heritage month crafts activity from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at Gerrity Memorial Library, open to all ages.
  • Nov. 23: An "Honoring Our Past & Our Future" event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the L.S. Skaggs Gallery inside the Hill Aerospace Museum. This event includes a Navajo singer, panel discussion, and activity tables.
