March is Women's History Month and Hill Air Force Base has planned events to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women. Women have long been instrumental in passing on their heritage in spoken word and in print to communicate the lessons of those who came before us. Women's stories, and the larger human story, expand our understanding and strengthen our connections to each other. Dr. Maya Angelou once said, "The more you know of your history, the more liberated you are."

For generations, women have broken-down barriers, shattered stereotypes, and changed society. We honor women who courageously challenge cultural barriers in society and the workplace for their tenacious spirit in telling their stories.

The 75th Security Forces Squadron has taken the lead in creating the Women’s History Month Committee and will recognize the contributions of women past and present throughout March as part of Women’s History Month. Members of the committee will host several events to share information and resources that highlight the accomplishments of women throughout history and beyond. Events are open to all members with base access.

On March 8, 2024, at 2 p.m., we will kick off our first event with a 5K run/2.4K walk across from the Warrior Fitness Center. We encourage members to wear purple to symbolizing royalty, loyalty to the cause and women’s quest for freedom.

Our next event will be on March 12, 2024, at 3 p.m., in the Landing Ballroom. We are excited to host a Women’s History Month Panel featuring four guest speakers: Mayor Tamara Tran, the Kaysville Mayor; Col Meghan Szwarc, 75th Air Base Wing Deputy Commander; Senior Master Sgt. Daniel Rivera, 75th ABW First Sergeant of the Year and Chief Master Sgt. (ret.) Lezlee Masson.

Our final event, a Sip and Paint Trivia Night will be on March 22, 2024, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Landing. Come have some drinks and play some trivia over women’s history! We will be painting five monumental women in history. Please RSVP to the following link:https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E49A5A72DAAFBC70-47862097-sippaint. We will have up to 40 slots. All personnel with base access are welcome. Supplies will be included free of charge and the bar will be open to purchase beverages.

SSgt Flor Hernandez, 75th Security Forces, Women’s History Month Committee Lead stated, “We were very excited for our unit to have lead on Women’s History Month. We hope everyone can make each event and celebrate Women’s contributions past and present on the fight for equality.”
