Last month, the Asian American/Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander/Member Employee Resource Group attended the 45th Annual Utah Asian Festival.

This year, the event was attended by an upwards of 20,000 people. The group consisted of group members Staff Sgt. Savannah Slaughter and her spouse, Senior Master Sgt. Valerie Taitingfong, Jenipher Sears, Kaimi Pacheco, Jefferson Ho, and AANHPI Special Emphasis Program Manager Tony Lau.

The group works to identify triggers and investigate potential barriers that limit equal employment opportunity for members within their affinity group.

While participating at the festival, Lau and his group were able to provide information about a multitude of opportunities at Hill, such as Starbase, the Legacy summer internship program, civilian service, and military enlistment.

In addition to referring individuals to the appropriate agencies, they increased awareness about the mission of their group and made community connections.
