Pratt & Whitney R-985 "Wasp Jr." Engine
This nine-cylinder air-cooled 985 cubic inch Pratt & Whitney R-985-AN-14B radial engine produced 450 horsepower and weighed 668 pounds. It featured a built-in centrifugal supercharger and direct-drive propeller, and its propeller rotation was right-handed.
The Wasp Junior was used on the Vultee BT-13 Valiant, Beech C-45 Expeditor (and its AT-7 and AT-11 variants), and the DeHavilland L-20A Beaver. The Engine Repair Shops at Hill Field repaired and overhauled variants of the Pratt & Whitney R-985 Wasp Junior radial engine during and after World War II.
