Give yourself the gift of health

HILL AIR FORCE BASE – Follow these steps to keep you and your loved ones safe and healthy this holiday season.

Wash your hands often to help prevent the spread of germs. It’s cold and flu season so make sure you wash your hands with soap and running water for at least 20 seconds.
Manage stress. Give yourself a break if you feel overwhelmed or out of control.
Don’t drink and drive. When anyone drives drunk, they put everyone on the road in danger. Choose not to drink and drive and help others do the same.
Fasten seat belts while driving. Always buckle your children in the car using an age, height and weight appropriate car seat.
Get your vaccinations. Vaccinations help prevent disease and save lives.
Practice fire safety. Most residential fires occur during the winter months. Don’t leave fireplaces, space heaters, food being cooked, or candles unattended.
Prepare food safely. Wash hands and surfaces often, avoid cross-contamination, cook foods to proper temperatures and refrigerate foods promptly.
Eat healthy, stay active. Choose nutrient dense foods and limit your portion sizes. Find ways to incorporate physical activity into your holiday plans like taking a walk around the neighborhood to look at holiday lights.
