HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah – You can be the face of change through the combined federal campaign program that begins Oct. 25 and runs through Jan. 14, 2022.
The CFC is the official workplace giving campaign for all people associated with the military, and has been for the past 60 years.
“Anyone at Hill can be a changemaker,” said Maj. Dana Cates, co-installation project officer for this year’s campaign. “As we continue to recover from the challenges of the COVID era, CFC pledges make a real and meaningful difference to countless people throughout our state, our nation, and the world.”
The CFC includes many worthy causes, including disaster relief, education, ending poverty, animal welfare, military support, children and family services, human rights, environmental protection, mental wellness, medical research and community improvement, just to name a few.
“Choosing a charitable cause to support is a deeply personal decision,” Cates said. The CFC website provides all the information you need so you can make an informed decision on where to contribute and you can actually split your contribution between more than one.”
The CFC website is always available to accept pledges or answer questions at givecfc.org, and then go to Mountain States CFC (Zone 10).
Master Sgt. Harrell D. Singley Jr., co-installation project officer, said giving online is his favorite option for making a pledge.
“I think making a meaningful difference by pledging online is easiest because it’s so simple,” he said. “Plus, since you’re already logged into the system with secure passwords, it’s easy to renew next year. Or, another good option is to download and try the new, improved 2021 CFC Giving App from your app store.”
While online or in the app, donors can contribute through payroll deduction, credit or debit cards, e-check, bank transfer and can even pledge volunteer hours.
Conventional paper donation slips are still available upon request from one of the many unit CFC representatives.
Unit reps will soon be hanging posters with their name, contact information and your unit pledge code.
“A little goes a long way,” Cates said. “If we all pledge a little, it can add up to a lot of good being done for our community and beyond.”
For example, a simple $5 monthly donation would add to a $60 annual contribution, corresponding to the CFC’s 60th anniversary. If everyone at Hill did that, the total would reach $1.62 million.
Cates said she knows there are a lot of giving options out there, but the CFC makes it simple to choose local regional charities, up through national and international causes, that are vetted by OPM for inclusion on the list.
“As we get closer to the winter holiday season, when giving and community may be on our minds more, we’re hopeful that you will choose to give through the CFC to a charity, or charities, whose mission and values align with yours, she said.”
