Hill firefighters rescue 9 baby ducks from storm drain Published May 3, 2018 By Richard W. Essary 75th Air Base Wing Public Affairs HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- Nine “lucky ducks” were reunited with their parents May 2. Firefighters were called to a parking lot near building 430 on 6th Street to rescue baby ducks stuck in a storm drain.According to the Hill Fire Department, passers-by heard distressed chirping coming from the storm drain while two parent ducks circled nearby. Upon arrival, the fire crew found a bystander had already partially removed the storm drain cover and removed three of the ducks.Firefighters fully removed the cover and eventually flushed the drain tunnel with a firehose to safely push the animals to a downstream storm drain where an awaiting firefighter rescued the ducks.The ducklings were reunited with their parents not long after.
