HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah -- The American Indian and Alaskan Native (AIAN) Committee and 75th Force Support Squadron, with Team Hill Special Observance Council (THSOC) sponsorship, hosted several AIAN events during the month of November.

Children were the intended audience for ‘3 Weeks of Reading,’ which took place on several occasions from Nov. 1-17 at the Hill AFB Youth Center. Military members and civilians read books to children about American Indian and Native Alaskan folklore, legend, and history.

‘Trivia Night’ was held Nov. 15 at the Gerrity Memorial Library on base. This was targeted to all age groups and the focus was AIAN trivia. Participants competed on their own or against family and friends.

American Indians and Alaskan Natives have had a profound and positive influence on our country through their strong commitment to family, tradition, hard work and service. They have bravely defended and shaped our country’s character and cultural heritage through legacies of freedom and diversity.

AIAN is one of 10 Department of Defense special observances hosted by the THSOC. November is designated as the month that commemorates and remembers the contributions of American Indians and Alaskan Natives to the United States.
